The main living area combines space for dining, living, and cooking. Organized around the hearth.
The living room, kitchen, and dining area are arranged around the central hearths.
Living room has views of the reservoir across the street: the 4' wide hallway beyond leads to the 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
Large living room in the front of the house. The kitchen is tucked around the corner. There's a massage chair, if desired.
The space between the counters in the kitchen is wide enough for a wheelchair to turn.
Most of the kitchen storage is in low drawers with large handles for ease of access. We kept the soft close drawers 24" wide or less so that they wouldn't be too heavy when full.
The drawers are equipped with compartments and grids for easy storage and access.
Glasses, mugs can all fit in the drawers.
Counters are normal height, but roll-unders at the sink and cook top allow a power wheelchair with an elevator lift to use the space. Or enjoy sitting on a stool while washing dishes.
A shallow sink allows room to tuck legs beneath the sink.
We off-set the sink and placed a cabinet below the left side so that there's room for a garage disposal, pipes hidden, AND legs.
The kitchen connects the dining room to the living room.
A floor to ceiling pantry cupboard in the dining room; shallow shelving makes reaching easier.
We call it the dining room, but we think it could make a pretty good living room, too. There's a ramp along the panel wall at the far end of the room.
The dining room is open to the kitchen; plenty of space for everyone.
A large closet in the dining room for parking wheelchairs and supplies.
The 4 foot wide ramp from the dining room to the breezeway has both a recessed handrail and regular handrail.
